Shop 'Til You Drop in Chelmsford

Shopping in Chelmsford is highly recommended. The town has a wide range of shops and makes for a pleasurable experience with its pedestrianised High Street. The two main shopping areas are The Meadows Shopping Centre & High Chelmer Shopping Centre.
There is also an excellent market which is famed for it's variety of stalls and retains a unique old fashioned atmosphere.
The Meadows
Adjacent to the high street, The Meadows offers more then shopping with car valeting, restaurants & shop mobility. Shops include BHS, Boots, Burton, Dorothy Perkins, Faith, la Tasca, O2, Principles, Superdrug, The Works, Thomson, Tie Rack, Warehouse, Wilkinson and more.
High Chelmer
Also adjacent to the high street, High Chelmer is the larger of the two shopping centres with over 80 shops and 1000 car parking spaces. Shops include Bang and Olufsen, Boots, Camera World, Chelmer Fine Art, Clarks, Holland and Barratt, Hawkin's Bazaar, HMV, JJB Sports, Miss Selfridge, Millets, Peacocks, Sony Centre, River Island, Topshop, and many more.
Chelmsford Market
A market has been held in Chelmsford for over 800 years. Located under the multi-storey car park behind the High Chelmer Shopping Centre, there are currently over 100 stalls, all of which are undercover. There are general stalls on most days, except Sunday & Monday when the market is closed. On Thursday's it features antiques, collectables & second hand goods. Opening times are 8.00am to 4.00pm, except Saturdays when it closes at 5.00pm.
Car Parking
With approximately 25 car parks, Chelmsford has a wide choice for the shopper arriving by car. The best places for access to the shops are the Meadows & High Chelmer Shopping centre car parks. Alternate options are Debenhams car park, or the one located in Bond Street, both of which are adjacent to each other. Be warned that all car parks can become extremely busy during peak times.
